White Buffalo Statement Ring in Navajo Sterling Silver, by P. Yazzie, Size 8

Charcoal veining across creamy white stone, set in a heavy, sculpted sterling band. This White Buffalo ring in size 8 has real weight on the hand, and the black-and-white stone goes with everything from a white shirt to a leather jacket.

Greg cut this stone in our own shop, and I commissioned Navajo silversmith P. Yazzie to build the ring around it. That is the short version of where it came from: a stone we cut ourselves, silverwork made by a Navajo artist we work with directly, and documentation on file for both. White Buffalo is not turquoise. It comes from Nevada and has no copper in it, which is why there is no blue, just a clean white ground with dark veining. P. Yazzie set it in an oval bezel on a beveled band that feels substantial without being bulky.

Wear it with
Black denim, a crisp white shirt, a silver cuff, or a worn leather jacket. The monochrome stone keeps it easy to wear every day, and the heavy band gives it enough presence to be the only ring you put on. It wears well on a man's hand or a woman's.

Care
A little care keeps both the stone and the silver looking the way they do today. Keep it away from lotion, perfume, sunscreen, and cleaning products, and take it off before washing your hands, showering, or swimming. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing, and use a silver polishing cloth on the metal only, not the stone. Store it on its own in a dry pouch or box so harder pieces do not scratch it.
