A small sterling roadrunner with the feathers cut in texture rather than smoothed. A completely different mold from the two larger birds. Still on the original Maisel's card, never worn.

Three roadrunners, three molds, one trading post. This is the only small one, and once it's gone the trio can't be built again.

  • Sterling silver, marked on the original Maisel's card
  • Approx. 5/8" wide x 1/2" tall, not including the jump ring
  • New old stock, still attached to its original Maisel's card
  • One available
  • Sold as a single charm, ready to add to your own bracelet or chain

The story
Maisel's Indian Trading Post opened on Route 66 in downtown Albuquerque in 1939. Maurice Maisel hired John Gaw Meem, the architect who defined Pueblo Revival, and told him he was "not content with the usual Indian thing." Olive Rush designed the murals across the facade, painted by young artists including Pablita Velarde, Ben Quintana, Harrison Begay, and Pop Chalee. By the 1940s Maisel's was the largest trading post on Route 66. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. This charm came off that counter and never left its card.

Wearing it
Small and lightweight, it works well on a traditional charm bracelet or worn on a delicate chain as a tiny pendant. The jump ring is attached so you can add it to most standard bracelet chains without alteration, but if you use an especially thick or oversized chain you may want to double-check your clasp and links or have a jeweler add a larger ring.

Add it to your favorite chain or charm bracelet, or give it to someone who collects these. The card is half the reason they'll want it. It makes an easy gift for bird lovers, Route 66 fans, and anyone collecting vintage Southwest or New Mexico souvenir-style charms.

Any three pieces, 15% off. Mix charms and studs.

One available. When it's gone I have no way to get another. Free shipping over $75. Thirty-day returns.
