Eastport Waxed Canvas and Leather Clutch

Waxed canvas that gets better looking the more you beat it up.

This is the Sebago clutch's tougher cousin. Same nine and a half by six and a half footprint, same removable wristlet strap, but the body is lightweight waxed canvas panelled into top-grain cowhide instead of leather all the way around. Waxed canvas scuffs and creases and goes soft, and that is the point. It ages like a favorite jacket.

Zip it shut and it takes a phone, cards and keys. Open it up and the lining is moose print, which nobody asked for and everybody likes.

One thing worth knowing before you pick a color. Rogue calls the fourth one Brown, and in daylight it reads as a deep olive field green, not a true brown. The photo is accurate. The color name is the one on the tag.

Who makes it

Rogue Industries, in Standish, Maine, stitched in a workshop that runs on solar power. Michael Lyons started the company in 2007.

I did not make this and I am not going to imply I did. What I can tell you is it is made in the United States by a shop that puts its own name on it, which is the same standard I hold the turquoise to.
