Andean Alpaca Throw Blanket

Throw size is the one that actually gets used. It lives on the arm of the couch, goes in the truck, comes out to the fire pit, and does not swallow a chair.

What it is made of

50% alpaca wool, 50% ultra-soft acrylic with recycled content. I am putting that right here instead of burying it, because "alpaca blanket" gets thrown around loosely and you deserve to know what you are buying. This is a real blend. The alpaca half is what makes it warm and soft as cashmere. The acrylic half is what makes it washable, hard to wreck, and affordable.

Size

Throw size, about 78 by 45 inches. The couch, the camp chair, the end of the bed, the back seat. Reversible, so you get two looks in one.

Where it comes from

Woven in Ecuador by local artisans on looms that have been running for roughly a hundred years. A portion of what you pay goes back to those artisans. That arrangement is a big part of why I brought this line in.

Care

Machine wash cold on gentle or delicate with a mild detergent. Skip the bleach and skip the fabric softener, both of which flatten the pile. Hang it or lay it flat to dry and reshape it while it is still damp. Do not put it in the dryer.

If it pills a little in the first few washes, that is normal for a blended fiber. A fabric shaver or a soft clothes brush sorts it out in about a minute.
