A White Buffalo stone ring in sterling silver, size 7 1/2. A 12.5 carat oval cabochon, bright white with black matrix running through it, bezel set in silver. One of a kind, and there is only one.

White Buffalo is not turquoise, and that is the point of it. It comes out of the Dry Creek mine in Nevada with none of the copper that makes turquoise blue, so what you get instead is a clean white stone crossed by black. High contrast, graphic, and easier to wear with everything than a strong blue would be. If you already own turquoise and want something that reads Southwest without repeating yourself, this is that piece.

The oval cut keeps it wearable day to day. It sits flat enough not to catch, and the white face means it works as well against black as it does against denim. For anyone shopping a gift for her, this is a safe one to get right: white and black go with a wardrobe already in the closet.

Every White Buffalo cabochon is cut and backed at Cutting Edge Turquoise before it goes into a setting. Backing is what lets a stone with this much matrix survive being worn instead of sitting in a case.

Who made it
Joyce Benavidez and Jill Monfiletto built this ring at Cutting Edge Turquoise, our family turquoise and lapidary business, around a stone cut in their own shop. That is not how most Southwest jewelry gets made. Usually the rough passes from a dealer to a cutter to a silversmith to a gallery, and nobody along that chain has seen both ends of it. Here the same hands chose the rough, cut the cabochon, and set it in silver.

Will it fit you
This ring exists in one size only: 7 1/2. There is no second one in another size, because there is no second stone. If you are unsure of your size or you are between sizes, message me before you order and I will help you work it out.

Care: Wipe with a soft cloth. Remove before washing hands or applying lotion. Store dry.

Handcrafted in the American Southwest. Ships from Santa Fe within 2 to 3 business days.
