Moose Leather Coaster Set of Four, Made in Maine
Four coasters, four different hides.
Moose leather is not uniform and this set does not pretend otherwise. Lay all four out and one is nearly black, one is warm russet with fine crackle, one runs smooth and streaked. That variation is the reason to buy them rather than a matched set of anything.
Each round is backed with Portuguese cork, so the leather sits flat and the glass stays where you put it.
The details
- Set of four
- Genuine moose leather with Portuguese cork backing
- 4 inches in diameter
- Made in Maine, U.S.A.
- No two coasters in the set are alike
Two leathers, two looks
There is a second set in the shop built the same way, and they are genuinely different things. This moose set is the textured one, mottled and varied. The Sebago Camp set is smooth deep burgundy with all four matching. Pick the moose for character, the Sebago if you want them to read as a set.
Care
Blot spills with a dry cloth. Leather will take a faint ring if a wet glass stands on it for hours, and to my eye it looks better for that after a year.
Who made it
I did not make these. They come from Rogue Industries, a leather shop in Standish, Maine. My family lived in Maine for years, which is the real reason there is Maine leather in a turquoise shop. The rest of the leather goods are here.
Free US shipping over $75. Two sets get you most of the way there.
