A sterling covered wagon, bonnet up, wheels cut through. Still on the original Maisel's card, never worn. A classic prairie schooner style charm with that old Route 66 trading-post feel, ready to join a Western, Southwest, or travel-themed charm bracelet.

Sold on Route 66 to people driving the same westward line the wagon took, a century later and a lot faster. That is the whole joke of the American road, cast in silver and priced for a tourist. It works beautifully as a little roadside souvenir in charm form, especially if you collect vintage sterling or old trading-post pieces.

The story
Maisel's Indian Trading Post opened on Route 66 in downtown Albuquerque in 1939. Maurice Maisel hired John Gaw Meem, the architect who defined Pueblo Revival, and told him he was "not content with the usual Indian thing." Olive Rush designed the murals across the facade, painted by young artists including Pablita Velarde, Ben Quintana, Harrison Begay, and Pop Chalee. By the 1940s Maisel's was the largest trading post on Route 66. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places. This charm came off that counter and never left its card, a tiny sterling reminder of that roadside era.
