Chile Ristra and Basket Still Life Cotton Throw Blanket

A coiled basket, a ristra of red chiles and a few ears of dried corn set out on a striped rust and cream blanket, woven as a picture rather than a pattern. It is the Santa Fe kitchen table in October, which is to say it is exactly the kind of thing you see on a porch here when the chiles come in.

Because it is a picture, it wants to be seen flat or folded with the basket showing, over a chair back or the foot of a bed, rather than bunched up. The rust, cream and black in the stripes pick up most southwestern rooms without a fight. The basket in the image is a design the mill drew; this throw itself is cotton woven in North Carolina, not Native made, and I would rather say so plainly.

The details

• 100% cotton, loom woven on a Jacquard loom
• Pre washed and pre shrunk, then machine washable
• Fringed on all four edges
• Woven image, not printed, so the colors are in the thread
• 72 x 54 inches, the mill's large tapestry throw size

Pure Country Weavers does not publish a measurement for each individual design, so the size above is their standard large throw rather than a number confirmed for this pattern. Ask us if you need it exact.

Who makes it

Woven by Pure Country Weavers, a cotton mill in North Carolina. I picked this one rather than made it, and it ships from the mill. See the rest of the throws and blankets, and if the basket caught your eye, the real stone is over in the turquoise jewelry.
