Blue Moon Turquoise

Blue Moon Turquoise
Royston district, Nevada
A Royston-area stone with pale, almost luminous blue tones.
Where it comes from
Blue Moon is mined in the broader Royston district of Nevada, the same general region that produces Royston turquoise. The Royston Hills have yielded turquoise for over a century, and Blue Moon is one of the more distinctive sub-classifications within the district.
What makes it distinctive
Where it differs from classic Royston: a lighter, more silvery-blue color, often with minimal matrix or fine gold-brown veining. Smaller production and a quieter visual presence than the dramatic green-blues that made Royston famous. Suits minimalist Southwestern pieces where the stone needs to read clean rather than busy.
How to identify it
Look for that washed pale blue character with restrained matrix. Genuine Blue Moon should feel like a softer cousin to standard Royston, related in geology but distinct in feel. Smaller and more limited than the main Royston output.
