Olive Rush designed the murals across the facade, painted by young artists including Pablita Velarde, Ben Quintana, Harrison Begay, and Pop Chalee, who all went on to serious careers. By the 1940s it was the largest trading post on Route 66, with hundreds of Native American silversmiths and craftsmen working on-site.
